Following decisions at the 2010 IOF General Assembly in Trondheim Norway, the IOF Council appointed a project group to deal with the matter of the future World Orienteering Championships programme. The group presented an intermediate report to the IOF Council at its meeting in Helsinki in January.

As earlier announced, the races at the World Ski Orienteering Championships 2011 will be broadcast live via web-TV. In addition, a short video will be prepared each day with highlights from the day’s race. These videos can be used for TV news or similar programs.

Last August, the XXV IOF General Assembly agreed to recognise the Confederation of Orienteering Federations of the Mediterranean Sea, when the Mediterranean orienteering federations would establish it. Now the first Council meeting of the new Confederation has been held, together with the South East European Working Group meeting in Belgrade, Serbia.
07/03/2011 || Spectator-friendly World Ski Orienteering Championships with new participating nations ||News||
The World Ski Orienteering Championships take place 20-28 March in Tänndalen, Sweden. These events have been planned to be extremely spectator-friendly: All the top skiers will be carrying GPS trackers, making it possible for the audience to follow their route choices through the forest on the big screen at the arena. There will also be live online TV coverage from all the competitions.

A successful event advisers clinic was held in Antalya, Turkey, 22-23 February 2011. The clinic was lead by IOF Foot Orienteering Commission member Unni Strand-Karlsen.

The third IOF High Level Event Seminar gathered 26 participants from all over the world to learn about course planning for high level events.
