Highest score in medals terms in the individual races at the very successful Championships in Turkey was achieved by Sweden, whilst in the Relays it was Russia that scored highest. Overall, Sweden was best with 20 points to Russia’s 17.

The Russian women’s team enjoyed a clear victory by more than 1½ minutes, whilst the Norwegian men came through on the last leg to take victory by 13 seconds in the final races of the European Ski Orienteering Championships in Turkey today.

The European SkiO Long distance race brought the first win of the championships for Tove Alexandersson, Sweden. The Sprint champion Lars Moholdt, Norway, won his second individual gold in a close race with Sergey Gorlanov, Russia. After mass starts, the leads changed several times, giving plenty of excitement for both competitors and spectators.

Sweden’s Magdalena Olsson and Erik Rost emerged victorious from today’s Middle distance race in hilly terrain in Turkey. Olsson took her first-ever international championships win in convincing fashion, whilst Rost’s victory was tight – by just 3 seconds.

Alena Trapeznikova, individual Sprint champion yesterday, teamed up with Sergey Gorlanov today to take a second gold medal in the European SkiO Championships; Russia finished the course 29 seconds ahead of Sweden, with Norway getting the bronze medals.
