The women’s 1-2 was the reverse of yesterday, with Emily Benham, Great Britain in front of Martina Tichovska, Czech Republic by 19 seconds. The men’s race featured a convincing victory for the Czech rider Krystof Bogar.

Martina Tichovska, Czech Republic and Luca Dallavalle, Italy, were the top athletes in the Middle Distance World Cup race at Dietmanns, Austria today. Both won by over half a minute.

112 athletes representing 19 nations are gathered in Zwettl, Austria for three races this weekend that make up the first round of the 2017 MTBO World Cup.

The list of participants in The World Games is now official. Athletes from 24 countries will participate in orienteering, including the three time World Games champion Matthias Kyburz from Switzerland.

Russian Ski Orienteer Polina Frolova has tested positive for the prohibited substance Meldonium. The IOF Doping Hearing Panel have sanctioned her with a period of ineligibility of four years, as well as the disqualification of a number of results.

With three of the ten individual races completed, both women’s and men’s leaders are from Sweden, the most successful nation in the first round with three athletes in the top six in both lists of standings.

Two dramatic races in hilly and technically challenging Finnish terrain today ended with victory for Tove Alexandersson, Sweden and Magne Dæhli, Norway. They had started fifth and sixteenth respectively in the chasing start, both taking advantage of mistakes being made by the early leaders.

Sweden showed strength in depth in the men’s Middle race, with eight finishers in the top fourteen including four in the top six. Best of all of them was Martin Regborn, 29 seconds quicker than Olav Lundanes, Norway.
