11/07/2013 || World Trail Orienteering Championships: Jana Kostova and Jari Turto are World Champions ||News||
The leaders from Day 1, Jana Kostova (Czech Republic) and Jari Turto (Finland) both managed to keep their leads on Day 2 to be crowned as World Champions. In Kostova’s case it was with an impressive 3-point lead, and for Turto it was a much closer affair with time difference only separating first from second.

President Brian Porteous announced at an IOF Press Conference this afternoon that the Council has been considering the future of the Olympic vision for orienteering, and taking soundings from within the IOC.

At an IOF Press Conference this afternoon it has been announced that the 2016 Junior World Orienteering Championships has been awarded to Switzerland, and that the World Masters Orienteering Championships the same year will be held in Estonia.

The IOF Council has accepted the application from Association Sportive D’Orientation du Cameroun to become a member of the IOF.
11/07/2013 || World Orienteering Championships, men’s Middle qualification: two Swiss heat winners ||News||
Swiss stars Matthias Kyburz and Daniel Hubmann both won their heats today, with Kalvis Mihailovs from Latvia winning the third. Twenty-four nations have runners in the final, and seven of these have three finalists – Estonia, Latvia, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and Ukraine.

Twenty-two nations will be represented in the women’s final tomorrow afternoon, including Japan with a runner in a final for the first time this year.

The International Orienteering Federation will announce the appointment of the organisers for the World Masters Orienteering Championships and Junior World Orienteering Championships in 2016 on 11 July 2013 at 16:00 at Sokos Hotel Vuokatti, Sotkamo, Finland. In addition, two further announcements will be made.
