In the final race of the Championships, an experienced Finland team put in a strong performance to take the Women’s Relay crown, whilst in the men’s race a close finish between the top three teams resulted in a surprise victory for Austria. The Czech Republic takes the Relay World Cup title.

Martina Tichovska CZE, after a superb Championships with two gold medals and a silver, finished just 5 points short of overall winner Emily Benham’s score in the final World Cup standings. Anton Foliforov RUS, who clinched the men’s title earlier in the week, ended 44 points ahead of Jussi Laurila FIN.

On a very demanding course at Liberec, Czech Republic today, home rider Martina Tichovska and Russian Anton Foliforov both added a second gold medal to their collection from these Championships.

With one race to go, Emily Benham, Great Britain and Anton Foliforov, Russia are already certain of victory in this year’s overall World Cup standings – just as in 2014. Results from tomorrow’s Long Distance races will decide who ends up second and third.

Silver yesterday, gold today; that is the story in both the women’s and men’s classes of the Sprint race, where home athlete Martina Tichovska and the Italian Luca Dallavalle triumphed by 55 and 4 seconds respectively.
