World MTBO Championships: Long Distance golds to Tichovska and Foliforov

On a very demanding course at Liberec, Czech Republic today, home rider Martina Tichovska and Russian Anton Foliforov both added a second gold medal to their collection from these Championships.
Victory for Tichovska in the women’s race was by 1.06 over the Russian Svetlana Poverina, with Cecilia Thomasson, Sweden taking the bronze, 2.57 down on the winner. Gaelle Barlet, France and Emily Benham, Great Britain tied for fourth place, just over a further 3 minutes down. Six different nationalities were represented in the top six in the results list.
Foliforov emphasized his supremacy this season with a win by 1.30. Jussi Laurila, Finland took the silver medal and Lucas Dallavalle, Italy, 6 seconds slower than Laurila, took the bronze.
Darya Mikryukova, Russia, took the women’s junior gold medal by a massive margin of 5.58 after getting two bronze medals in the other individual formats. Lou Denaix, France won her third silver medal of the Championships. Middle Distance Champion Oskar Sandberg repeated his form in the men’s race, winning by 0.56.
The Championships end tomorrow with the Relay race between 10.00 and 14.00 local time.
