At its Annual General Meeting held in Berlin on 17 April, the Association of the IOC Recognised International Sports Federations elected the IOF Secretary General Barbro Ronnberg Secretary General and Member of the ARISF Council. The position is honorary and the term of office is four years.

A busy international programme awaits the world’s elite foot orienteers in 2005. The main highlight will be the first-ever World Championships to be held in Japan, scheduled for August 7-14. Japan has been appointed organiser of the 2009 World Ski Orienteering Championships. The championships will be held at the Rusutsu resort near Sapporo, Hokkaido, in Northern Japan. The events are scheduled for late February 2009.

Alongside JWOC, the World Masters Championships for athletes aged 35 and over have also been staged at S-chanf, Switzerland this week. The champions are the winners of the combined results of two individual days of racing.
