Japan has been appointed organiser of the 2009 World Ski Orienteering Championships. The championships will be held at the Rusutsu resort near Sapporo, Hokkaido, in Northern Japan. The events are scheduled for late February 2009.

International orienteering is coming to the South-East of England for the first time ever when Great Britain hosts the Orienteering World Cup, supported by UK Sport, from 29 April to 3 May 2005.

Alongside JWOC, the World Masters Championships for athletes aged 35 and over have also been staged at S-chanf, Switzerland this week. The champions are the winners of the combined results of two individual days of racing.

The first round of this year’s World Cup in orienteering will take place from 29 April to 3 May 2005. The events will be based at Guildford, some 30 km to the south-west of London, Great Britain. The deadline for submitting the Team Registration Forms and the Accommodation Forms is 1 February.

The Swedish sports talent Erik Rost had four JWOC medals before this year’s JWOC in ski orienteering, but the gold was missing. After the sprint he has also become a ‘golden boy’.
