27/08/2011 || World MTBO Championships: sprint golds to France and Russia ||News||
The final gold medals of the Championships were won today in the sprint races by Gaëlle Barlet, France and Anton Foliforov, Russia. Barlet, fourth in the World Championships sprint last year, won by 2 seconds whilst Foliforov, long distance champion last year, had a 31-second winning margin.
26/08/2011 || World MTBO Championships: Switzerland and Denmark take relay titles ||News||
Switzerland was the clear winner by 3:05 in the women’s relay today, and Denmark won the men’s relay with the comfortable margin of 2:08. Russia and Denmark took the women’s and men’s junior titles respectively, with the women’s race ending in a sprint finish, Russia one second ahead of Finland.

Samuli Saarela, Finland won his second gold medal of the Championships in the middle distance race today. He again won convincingly, this time by almost 3 minutes. The women’s gold went to the very experienced Michaela Gigon, Austria, who was silver medallist at this distance last year.

Rikke Kornvig, Denmark and Samuli Saarela, Finland were the winners of the long distance final in the World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships today at Marostica-Bassano, Italy.

The World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships (WMTBOC) and the Junior WMTBOC are taking place this week at Vicenza, Italy. Athletes have been entered from 30 nations for the three individual formats and the relay.

The 28th World Orienteering Championships is over, with the relay prize-giving being followed by the Championships Closing Ceremony, where the IOF flag was handed over to the organisers of the 2012 Championships, Switzerland.
