The IOF Council has decided to extend the deadline for applications for the World Orienteering Championships and World Trail Orienteering Championships 2017.

At the moment, the IOF General Assembly is held every two years. In every General Assembly, the election for Council takes place. The IOF Council now discussed the possibility to extend the period a Council member sits in the Council from two to four years.

By the deadline of 18 January, five countries had applied to organise the European Youth Orienteering Championships 2013. The applicants include Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, and Serbia.

The Presidents’ Conference will this year be held in Vuokatti, Finland, in conjunction with the World Orienteering and Trail Orienteering Championships. The date has now been decided. The presidents of all national federations will gather to the Conference on Thursday 11 July 2013.
