IOF Council discussed the Congress period
Posted on | January 20, 2013 | Category: News
At the moment, the IOF General Assembly is held every two years. In every General Assembly, the election for Council takes place. The IOF Council now discussed the possibility to extend the period a Council member sits in the Council from two to four years.
“It is very difficult for us to make real progress in our strategy in a two year period, and we believe it makes sense to consider, in discussion with our federations, whether a 4 year period would be more effective. The majority of Olympic sports work on a four year cycle “, IOF President Brian Porteous says.
At this point the issue was only discussed. It will most likely be brought for discussion to the Presidents’ Conference in Vuokatti, Finland, on 11 July.
