TempO, the sprint version of trail orienteering, with only timed controls, will be an official format at the World Trail Orienteering Championships 2013. This year a World TempO Trophy was organised just before the official World Trail Orienteering Championships kicked off in Scotland, United Kingdom.
European open class Champion Marit Wiksell, Sweden, showed that she masters TempO too, and took the victory before Guido Michelotti, Italy, and Martin Jullum, Norway. Tomas Lestinsky from Czech Republic was the only competitor to have all answers correct, but because he was not as fast as the best ones, he finished fourth. Reigning World Champion in open class, Lauri Kontkanen, was slow at the beginning but improved his performance towards the end and grabbed a fifth position.
The World Trail Orienteering Championships begin tomorrow with Day 1.
