WSOC: Another gold for Alexandersson
Posted on | March 9, 2017 | Category: Arena, News

Tove Alexandersson, Sweden enjoyed another almost error-free race over Middle Distance today, on a technically and physically challenging course in good skiing conditions. She took the gold medal by more than 1½ minutes over Polina Frolova, Russia.
A little overnight snow improved the state of the tracks and another sunny day faced the competitors in a race with a flattish first half, on the terrain used for the Sprints, and a hillier second half including one steep and energy-sapping climb. No-one else came anywhere near the dominant performance of Alexandersson, who finished in great style in taking her third gold medal of the week. Bronze medallist was again Salla Koskela, Finland – the medallists therefore the same as in the Sprint.
The Championships continue tomorrow with the men’s Middle Distance starting at 1500 local time.
