World Orienteering Day at the IOF

May 11 has been a historic day for the IOF. All day, people around the world have been participating in orienteering events, during what promises to be a record breaking day.
For the IOF Office, it has also been a momentous day, in the form of the grand opening of the new office in Karlstad. The day of celebrations was of course started off with a visit to a local school to participate in a World Orienteering Day event. Guests included IOF President Brian Porteous, IOF Senior Vice President Leho Haldna, local politicians and World Champion in Long Distance Ida Bobach, as well as representatives from the Swedish Sports Confederation, Swedish Orienteering Federation, the Latvian orienteering Federation.
Now we look forward to following the registrations from all over the world at the World Orienteering Day Website. Remember to register the number of participants at your event!
The local children were very excited to learn about orienteering and try a course around their school yard.
IOF president Brian Porteous was very keen to take part in a World Orienteering Day event.
