Will Thierry continue?

Thierry Gueorgiou won his 13th WOC gold in the Long Distance on Friday. One big question is if he will go for another WOC.
Thierry didn’t have the best feeling in the start of the race, and made some small mistakes in the early part of the course, but things changed. “It went better and better. I got a hope for a good result and I pushed hard at the end of the race”, he says.
He got his fourth gold on the Long Distance. “It’s not my best WOC race ever, but I am proud of it”.

He didn’t get any medal on the Middle Distance. “If the Long result was a revenge for the not so good race on the Middle? No. What I did on that distance is history”. There he made a mistake on the 18th, lost a bit of feeling in his orienteering and on the second-last made a bigger mistake.
The Frenchman got his 20th WOC medal on the Long Distance and there might be more medals. “If I have to say something now, I will probably say that I will stop”.
– The coming WOC is on your new home ground since you’re living in Sweden …
“Well If I am asked about what I will do in a couple of weeks’ time, I could be more positive for it”.
When he has rested after this WOC he can get new motivation for going on. In September he thinks he will make the decision, but can he stop when it’s a championship in the country where he is living now? In recent months he has had some challenges with injuries, but like normal he hit top form for the most important event of the year.
Thierry didn’t take part in the Relay. “It was decided about one month ago that I shouldn’t take part in the Relay. I am glad I didn’t have to do that. It would have been too tough preparation for the Long Distance with the Relay two days beforehand and with the Middle Distance”.
– They also did quite well without you!
“Perfect”, he smiles. It ended with bronze for France on the Relay.
