Wet PreO at World TrailO Championships

Rain throughout the day, at times torrential, made siting conditions difficult on the first of the two days of PreO competition, being held in Lithuania.
Fortunately the tracks had hard surfaces throughout on a museum site with a mixed area of forest and open land and with many traditional houses, so there was no traction problem for wheelchairs, and the competition followed the planned schedule. Leaders after Day 1 are Vitaliy Kyrychenko, Ukraine in the Open class and Pekka Seppä, Finland in the Paralympic class. Kyrychenko was one of three in the Open class who dropped no points, after two controls were voided. Results are very close and there are many competitors with a chance of coming through to a medal position when the second PreO day takes place on Saturday.

Tomorrow the Relay will take place, on a golf course not far from Vilnius. This is only the second year that the Relay has been an official part of the championships.
