Two bids to host the World Orienteering Championships

By the application deadline of 31 January 2006, France and Norway have submitted their bids to organise the World Orienteering Championships in 2010 and 2011.
The French Orienteering Federation proposes to organise the championships at Chambéry/Aix-les-Bains, whilst the Norwegian Orienteering Federation has chosen Trondheim as their candidate city.
The organisers will be appointed at the XXIII IOF Ordinary General Assembly to be held on 3 August 2006 in conjunction with the World Orienteering Championships in Denmark.
The 2007 World Orienteering Championships have been allocated to Ukraine, and the 2008 and 2009 championships will be held in Czech Republic and Hungary respectively.
