Thrilling World MTB Orienteering Championships kicks off on Sunday

Starting Sunday, 5 August, the Mountain Bike Orienteering elite will meet in Nové Mesto na Morave, Czech Republic to compete in the 5th World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships. 23 countries, with 182 orienteers (117 men and 65 women) will compete in the championships, which last from 5-12 August.
Nové Mesto (meaning the New Town) is situated 150 kilometres southeast from Prague, in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. The competition area is situated between 450 and 800 metres above sea level, in an undulated terrain with mixed vegetation, dense network of paths and small rocky formations (gneiss, granite, sandstone) on some places. This promises for varying and challenging terrains for the competitors with climbings of 300 metres for women and 360 metres for men.
