There could be one more WOC for Simone

Simone Niggli could again be a participant at WOC in Finland next year. She is not at all sure she will stop this year.
On the Long distance she had a superb race yet again and won her 19th WOC gold. “I have grown up in the kind of terrain around here”, she explains after her great race. “During the race I pushed and pushed.”
Minna Kauppi in second place was beaten by 91 seconds on the 12.4 kilometre long course with 23 controls, in a forest just ten kilometres north-west of the centre of Lausanne.
Mother power
The winner thinks she has become better than ever. Tests in sprint have shown greater strength than ever. “Having three children gives me more power”, she smiles.
Simone is also leaving the door open for the coming WOC. “We have to see after this season is over. First of all I have to discuss it with my husband (the Swiss head coach Matthias Niggli) and the family. It also depends on my motivation, but it could be nice in Finland, where I won my first WOC gold”, she says.
