The toughest TrailO competitions ever?
Posted on | May 9, 2017 | Category: News

Last weekend, 29-30 April, FinTrailO hosted the European TrailO Cup outside Helsinki. The competitions were very challenging, with many difficult controls in a forest with many details of different types.
The planners had managed to find really difficult terrain for TrailO. One of the planers was former IOF President Åke Jacobson.
But in addition to that, the competitors and volunteers had to fight the weather, what some of the competitors from south Europe called “Nordic Spring”. Zero degrees and snow storm, especially on the Saturday afternoon. The competitors did not care – orienteering is an outdoor sport. However, it was even worse for the volunteers who had to be out there for many hours. We admire them for their kind spirit the whole time.
What about the results? As usual, there were well-known names at the top. In the TempO competition on Saturday, Marit Wiksell SWE was the winner, before Jan Furucz SVK, and Erik Stålnacke SWE in third place.
On the Sunday’s PreO, long distance, Martin Fredholm SWE came out on top before Antti Rusanen FIN and once again Erik Stålnacke SWE in third place.
