Swiss and Swedish strength shows in World Cup standings
Posted on | June 28, 2010 | Category: News
With the Nordic Orienteering Tour now over, 4 of the top 6 in the current men’s World Cup standings are Swiss, showing how strong the Swiss team is at present. The Swedish women’s team is almost as strong, with 3 in the top 6. Simone Niggli and Daniel Hubmann, both Swiss, hold commanding leads.
A massive 293 points is the present gap between Simone and Helena Jansson, Sweden, second in the standings. Helena has 11 points more than Maja Alm, the rapidly improving young Dane.
Daniel Hubmann’s lead is a bit more modest – only 171 points more than his team-mate Fabian Hertner! Third in the men’s standings is Valentin Novikov, Russia.
The next World Cup points will be based on the results of the three individual finals at the World Championships in Trondheim in August.
