Swedish dominance in European Trail Orienteering Championships
Posted on | May 21, 2012 | Category: News
After a couple of more quiet years the Swedish trail orienteers showed at the home championships that they have not disappeared anywhere; quite on the contrary! They grabbed five of the six individual medals, and, of course, won the Team European Championhips gold as well.
In the open class six athletes had all answers correct after two days. Fastest of them was the young Swedish star Marit Wiksell, silver medalist from two years ago, before Lars Jakob Waaler from Norway. Jens Andersson finished third.
In paralympic class defending European Champion Ola Jansson was in his own class with his flawless result. His team mates Michael Johansson and Rolf Karlsson won the other medals.
The trail orienteers now continue to Scotland, where the World Trail Orienteering Championships take place 6-9 June 2012.
