The winter is not over yet for the overall World Cup winner Eduard Khrennikov. Next Tuesday he will be taking part in the Winter World Games for military sports, which take place in Aosta Valley, Italy.
–The CISM World Games are very important to me, Eduard Khrennikov says. He has had a remarkable winter so far, and hopes that the trend continues in Italy next week. So far, he has been among the three best in ten of the twelve World Cup races!

Today he was third in the final World Cup race. He was virtually certain of overall victory beforehand, and didn’t use all his power on the very long last race, 43.5 kilometres in all, calculated with the best route choices.
– I didn’t push so hard on the two first of the three long laps even though I went fast, he says.
On the last short lap he was together with the Finns Olli-Markus Taivainen and Staffan Tunis. Just before the end he took a poor route choice and the Finns got ahead by a few seconds. Whilst the overall World Cup ended very close among the women, there was a huge gap from Eduard Khrennikov to the Finn Staffan Tunis in second place.
