Just a few days ago, Simone Niggli wrote on her website that she will not continue her career at top level. But her choice differs from that of husband Matthias.
“I will go on for one more year”, says Matthias Niggli, who is Head Coach for the national team.
“I feel satisfied with my choice. I love the competitions, but there also reasons for not going on”, the mother of three says.
“We don’t have to do the same thing”, smiles husband Matthias. But he isn’t looking to carry on for that many years. “I think it will be a stop after the coming year. Then I will have had nine years in the job, and I need to stop before I will be ‘wished’ away”, he says.
Simone today took her 64th World Cup victory in the Middle distance in Baden, just 30 kilometres north- west of Zurich. She has also 23 World championship gold medals and been the always smiling star.
