Review of the IOF Competition Programme Project
Posted on | May 15, 2014 | Category: News
The IOF is embarking on a project to review the competition programme across the four disciplines. This task is being undertaken in response to a desire by a number of the member federations and from within Council to examine the effectiveness of the IOF’s major events (World Championships, World Cup and Regional Championships). It will be conducted in the context of how the IOF can achieve its strategic directions as endorsed by the 2012 General Assembly for the period 2012-2018.
The project is currently being led by Vice President Mike Dowling (AUS). It will examine how the IOF competition programme is helping in achieving global development goals, how to ensure the competition programme is organisationally and technically sustainable and how to make more of the competition programme assets to ensure financial sustainability for both member federations and the IOF.
Vice President Mike Dowling says: “Council understands and appreciates that there is some concern within the global orienteering community as to the organisational and financial sustainability of our existing competition programme. Terms of reference are being finalised for the project along with the determination of personnel for key tasks within the project working group and reference group. It is the intention of Council to provide regular updates to member federations through the life of the project.”
