Pasi Ikonen – better than ever

Pasi Ikonen just missed winning by five seconds, but the Finn is very glad for the good place. The World Champion from 2001 is really back.
“Problems? Yes, I have had most of them”, Pasi considers. It has been a bit up and down for some years even though he has had a lot of very good races. In the Middle race in Kongsberg he was in the top three in a World Cup race for the first time in three years. “In 2011 I won a race in the Czech Republic”, he says.
In 2001 he won WOC gold on what was called Short distance at that time. Ikonen took the gold in WOC on home ground and didn’t navigate with a compass at all. He’s still very well known for that.
At Kongsberg he ran a very good race and his performance was impressive. “I have reached my highest level so far”, he says.
