Niggli – overcame all challenges

For the 21st time, Simone “Gold” Niggli achieved the best position possible in the Sprint final. She had no serious problem with all the new challenges.
The little town of Sotkamo was ‘rebuilt’ on the sprint day. 57 new fences were built to make it more challenging to sort out the routes between the controls, and a lot of athletes talked about a very difficult sprint course, but Simone hadn’t a problem. “I pushed hard from the start”, she says.
Even though she has so much experience she says she had a lot of nerves, but they didn’t cause her to make mistakes.
On Sunday she won her qualification heat in the Long distance, and the final is tomorrow – the day after the sprint. “I have done my preparation in advance. That will go well”, she says.
