Nations’ views on the WOC qualification and starting order

Posted on | April 10, 2013 | Category: News

The IOF member federations took the decision at the 2012 IOF General Assembly to remove the qualification races for the Middle and Long finals of the World Orienteering Championships (WOC) 2014 and onwards. Now they have commented the IOF Council’s proposal on how to handle the question of how many runners a nation can have on the starting line.

The proposal was sent to the IOF member federations for hearing, and 20 nations replied with their view. The IOF Foot Orienteering Commission and Council now discuss the replies, and will modify the document as needed.

Finally, the matter will be presented and discussed at the Presidents’ Conference during the World Orienteering Championships in July 2013 in Vuokatti, Finland.
