Finland’s first team, favourites to win the mixed relay, came into the finish today in the anticipated first place with a good margin down to second-placed France. Czech Republic took third position.
Marika Hara, second in the Long distance race yesterday and winner of the Sprint on Friday, gave her team a very strong start and she was ably backed up by Jussi Laurila and Long distance winner Pekka Niemi. The gap to France at the finish of the over two hour race was 1 minute and 24 seconds. Czech Republic came in just under a minute after France, whose relatively unknown team members put up a great performance.
Round 2 of the MTBO World Cup will be in the Skåne region of Sweden from 17th to 20th July.
