MTB Orienteering World Cup: overall victories for Hara and Laurila

In the final World Cup standings, Marika Hara and Jussi Laurila of Finland have the highest points scores by big margins – 85 for Hara and 52 for Laurila. Both have shown supremacy in all formats of individual competition this season, not least in the final Long Distance event today.
Christine Schaffner-Räber, Switzerland, is second in the women’s standings and Ksenia Chernykh, Russia, takes third place with just two points more than Susanna Laurila, Finland.
Susanna’s brother Jussi had as his closest challenger Ruslan Gritsan, Russia, who has had a consistently good season and heads the IOF MTB orienteering World Rankings. Samuli Saarela, Finland, is third, again with a two-point margin, in his case ahead of František Bogar, Czech Republic.
