MTB Orienteering World Cup: Marika Hara wins again
Posted on | June 1, 2012 | Category: News

Today’s Sprint races in the urban and forested outskirts and narrow central streets of Duszniki-Zdrój, Poland, were won by Marika Hara, Finland – her second individual victory in this year’s World Cup – and Luca Dallavalle, Italy, who was placed second in the World Cup standings before today.
Both had comfortable victories in Sprint race terms. Hara’s win was by 13 seconds over home rider Anna Kamińska, with Ursina Jäggi, Switzerland having a fine ride to take third place a further 45 seconds down. Dallaville was 44 seconds faster than Jussi Laurila, Finland, who was in turn 8 seconds quicker than František Bogar, Czech Republic.
Anna Kaminska took her first medal in her home World Cup round in Poland.
In the men’s race a surprise podium placing went to Yoann Garde, France, 22nd in the IOF World Rankings, who achieved his best-ever World Cup result with 5th place today. Beat Schaffner, Switzerland, third in the World Cup standings before today, was disqualified with no punch registered at control 13.
Tomorrow there is a Middle Distance race in the hilly terrain near the Czech border.
