MTB Orienteering World Cup: Gigon and Skovgaard Knudsen strongest at the end

The individual Mountain Bike Orienteering World Cup 2010 is now over. Before the season, six-fold World Champion Michaela Gigon, Austria, told in O-zine that she was aiming to win the World Cup – and after the very last race, she managed to climb to the first position in the rankings, merely four points ahead of Christine Schaffner, Switzerland, who still lead the World Cup the day before!
Erik Skovgraad Knudsen, Denmark rode strong all season long and took a clear victory in the men’s class 34 points ahead of Samuli Saarela, Finland. Skovgaard Knudsen secured the victory by winning Saturday’s sprint in Italy.
MTB Orienteering World Cup 2010 ends with a mixed relay in Teolo, Italy, on Monday. Czech Republic is leading the relay standings after two races, but there are still five nations that can win the World Cup title, as all three relay races count.
