MTB Orienteering World Cup: Finland wins mixed relay

Victory in the mixed relay – teams of three, at least one woman – went as anticipated to Finland’s star team of Marika Hara, Samuli Saarela and Samuel Pökälä. Second place went to the Czech Republic and third place to Switzerland.

Samuel Pökälä rode the fastest lap of the day to give Finland a comfortable lead at the finish of 32 seconds. Jiří Hradil, last leg rider for the Czech Republic, got in to the finish just 8 seconds ahead of yesterday’s middle distance winner Beat Schaffner. There was then a gap of more than 5 minutes down to the fourth team to finish, Russia.

The next round of the MTBO World Cup will be held in Poland starting on 31st May.
