Moving to Sweden

Laurina Neumann and Brian Keely didn’t have a return ticket home to Australia after WOC. They are going to settle down in Scandinavia for a while.
The Australians got a bit of experience in Scotland by coming a week before, and got some important practice. It was totally different from home. “At home it’s hard and dry. In Scotland it was soft and wet”, Laurina smiles. The challenges were not like down under, but orienteers find their way.
Laurina, who is 26 years old, finished 47th on the Long Distance. Brian ended as number 52.
This time it was not in any way like home ground at all, but even though next year’s WOC will also be on the opposite part of the world to Australia, it’s on the way to being home or at least well-known ground. “We are going to live for at least one year in Stockholm”, Laurina says.
She and her partner Brian will both work at the international school, but will of course do a lot of orienteering.
– Which club will it be?
“Maybe Järla”, Laurina says.
