Minna is back on track

In the last race in the World Cup Minna Kauppi was again the very best, but she hasn’t got up to her best speed at any time this year.
She was quite sick at the beginning of the season and didn’t get an individual medal at the World Championships, but was again first to finish in the relay. “In the recent races it has been good to feel that I can push harder again, and I have now reached my best level this year”, she says.
The final races were not that difficult compared to a lot of other city sprints. “But I had to be concentrated”, she says. Like a lot of other athletes in the Nordic countries, Minna is looking forward very much to the World Championships in Finland in 2013. “It looks as though that could be the end of my career, and now I will really do what I can to get up to a better standard, so that I can have two years with a lot of good races”. Next year there will also be runners back from childbirth, she says, thinking about Simone Niggli and Anne Margrethe Hausken Nordberg. Anne Margrethe has started running again after getting a child in June, and added one more family name a short while ago.
