Minna finished with a smile

She is one of the biggest athletes in orienteering history, and after the Sprint qualification Minna Kauppi had a big smile.

“Now I’m smiling again”, she says.
The Finnish star with an incredible 17 WOC medals has had tough years with a lot of injuries to struggle with. It has been few races and not the usual success, but now it’s looking much better again. For the last month everything has gone very well.
“In recent weeks there have been no injuries and I have done what I really have wanted to. I am feeling stronger day by day”, she says.
Kauppi has passed 30 years old and has had a lot of problems, but still has motivation and hunger. “I hope to fight among the very best. A medal would be good!”
In the qualification in Forres she showed strength in winning one of the three groups. “I did a good race. I felt very focused,” she says.
