Middle distance qualification: only 4 nations get 100% success

Only four nations – France, Sweden, Switzerland and Ukraine – achieved 100% success in the middle distance qualification races yesterday, with all their runners qualifying for the finals.
Six nations had all but one of their runners qualify for Friday’s finals. These are Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Lithuania and Norway. New Zealand will be delighted to have had all their women runners qualify (plus one of the men); all the men running for Italy also qualified.
Twenty-five nations will be represented in the finals. Ireland gained their first and USA their second finals place of the championships in the middle distance qualification.
