With a margin of 16 seconds, Matthias Kyburz won the fourth World Cup race this season and showed that he is really back in business.

“I have been a bit unsure of myself recently”, says the World Champion in sprint in Lausanne. When he took part in Silva League events in Sweden some weeks ago he was beaten quite a lot. “But I took the races as training. Others were taking them more seriously”, he says.

– Is it more important now?

“Oh yes, the World Cup is more important than the Silva League!”

Matthias wants to defend his sprint title in Finland. The question is how much more there will be for him. “I want to take part in long distance, and I think it’s possible even though the sprint is the day before, but maybe it can be the middle distance instead”, he says. In the middle of the week after the Nordic Tour is finished, Switzerland has two selection races in Finland.

– How is your level this year?

“I think I am up to the level from last year now, and I hope to increase it a bit more during the last week before WOC”.

His team-mate Daniel Hubmann showed with his second place that he is back after struggling with injuries.
