Junior World Ski Orienteering Championships: Very tough for the organisers

The snow has been and is a big problem for the organisers in Austria, but they have taken up the challenge with plenty of energy and a friendly smile.
First of all, the snow didn’t come and two of the four competitions have been moved. Just two weeks ago the organisers started to make a map for a totally new area for ski orienteering. On Monday it was a great sprint competition there, with many challenges for the competitors in the beautiful valley. It was open country, but even so the large number of tracks made it a very difficult competition.
On Monday evening a heavy fall of wet snow started, and so the organisers have now got new challenges. About half a metre of snow came during late Monday evening, and shortly before midnight the middle distance competition scheduled for Tuesday was postponed to Wednesday. It was impossible to make all the tracks in time.
The Austrians are really having to work hard. It’s good that they have smiles and lots of energy!
