Junior World Ski Orienteering Championships: Just as the day before
Posted on | February 12, 2010 | Category: News
Among the juniors, the Long distance was a repetition of the Middle distance regarding the winners. Mikhail Utkin and Barbro Kvåle now have two golds each.
– I hadn’t at all expected something like this, Barbro says. She had a comfortable win, while the Russian had to fight a bit more. He and the Swede Anton Sjökvist were together in the last part of the race. David Bejmer, also from Sweden, was also up there and fighting for the gold. – I felt I was stronger in skiing than the Swedes, but they navigated better than me, says Mikhail. When he pushed hard in the very last part of the race, he set up a big gap on the way to his second title in two days.
For Sweden too it was a good day, with two medals also among the women. Maria Nordström and Magdalena Olsson took silver and bronze.
