The weather was tough for both runners and organisers during the long distance with thunder, rain and a strong wind. Here one of the speakers has one hand on the microphone and the other on the tent so it won’t fly away.
Jenny Lönnkvist on her way to another JWOC medal.
Margarita Molotkova from Russia finished seventh.
Martin Hubmann got his second silver in these competitions.
Rasmus Thrane Hansen from Denmark was fifth.
There’s always a good Sild from Estonia! Lauri, son of the former orienteering star Sixten Sild, finished fourth.
The finish area for the long distance was almost 2000 meters above sea level in Passo Rollo in Valle di Primiero. The day started with sunshine, but then the weather drastically changed. The weather was tough, with rain, thunder and wind, but the Italians solved everything without any problems. So the long distance was just like the sprint a memorable day.
