Junior World Orienteering Championships: Low odds winners in sprint
Posted on | July 8, 2012 | Category: News

The Junior World Orienteering Championships kicked off today with sprint. 176 junior men and 139 women stood on the starting line for the course.
At the end, it was the known names that took the gold: in the women’s class it was the seven-fold Junior World Champion Tove Alexandersson, Sweden, that was clearly faster than anyone else. Silver medallist Emma Klingenberg was over half-a-minute slower than Alexandersson. Frida Sandberg, Sweden, finished third, 54 seconds after Alexandersson.
In the junior men’s class, it was Junior World Ski Orienteering Champion from 2011, Glen Tikhonov, Russia, who was the fastest. He was 17 seconds faster than the other medallists, Jan Petrzela, CZE, and Eskil Kinneberg, NOR.
The Junior World Orienteering Championships continue with long distance final on Monday.
