Junior World Championships: Double Swiss victory in Sprint

Simona Aebersold and Joey Hadorn provided the perfect start for the home team in the Sprint race at Scuol, Switzerland today. Aebersold’s victory was emphatic, whilst Hadorn was the fastest of four Swiss in the top six.

18-year-old Simona Aebersold won by 51 seconds, a huge margin for the girl who was repeating her Sprint victory from Norway last year, and she dominated the race throughout. Silver medalist was Anna Dvorianskaia, Russia and the bronze went to Anna Haataja, Finland. The margin between these two of 3 seconds is more what one can expect at this level!

Joey Hadorn improved significantly on last year’s thirteenth place to win the men’s race by 9 seconds over his team-mate Thomas Curiger, who was fourth last year. Sweden got into the medals through the efforts of Isac von Krusenstierna, who finished 8 seconds down on Curiger’s time.
