Julia Gross: “I am ready for more of this”

Julia Gross didn’t know she was the real winner when she finished, but the Swiss girl could step up to the top of podium at the prize-giving with a lot of new experiences.

Switzerland performed really well in the last Sprint Relay in the unofficial World Cup this season with both first and third place, but Julia wasn’t the first to the finish on the last leg. “I made a little mistake at the end of the leg. I was probably passed there,” she says.

Anyway she did a very good last leg. There was only Maja Møller Alm who did better, and she threw her arms up in the air when finishing. She thought she was the winner, but there was a missing control earlier in the Relay for the Danes.

For Julia it was a new experience, running the last leg in an international relay. She was the anchor. “I liked it. I hope to run more last legs,” she smiles.

The 23-year-old Swiss athlete has taken big steps forward this year. In April she was in the winning Swiss team at the European Championships in Portugal. She also did well in the first individual race in Switzerland this weekend, finishing sixth.
