IOF 50th anniversary ceremony at middle distance final

At 12.30 tomorrow (Friday), immediately before the start of the middle distance final, a special ceremony will be held in the World Championships race arena to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the IOF.
The International Orienteering Federation was formed in May 1961 at a meeting in Copenhagen and at first had just 10 members. Now there are 73 member nations on 5 continents, and four disciplines (foot, ski, mountain bike and trail orienteering) instead of one.
The ceremony will include the showing of a 50th anniversary video which portrays how the IOF has developed its work from the early days to the present, and a special flag ceremony. An anniversary issue of the IOF magazine Orienteering World has been published, and free copies will be available after the ceremony.
