Invitation to the Trail-O Technical Clinic

Kiev, Ukraine on Saturday 25 August 2007 in association with the World Trail Orienteering Championships 2007.
The IOF Trail Orienteering Commission is pleased to invite participants to a Technical Clinic during and immediately following the World Championships in Trail Orienteering WTOC 2007, these being held in conjunction with WOC 2007.
This Technical Clinic is open to all interested in the technical setting and solution of trail orienteering control site problems at elite international level. These include, not only present and future planners, controllers and organisers in trail orienteering, but also competitors who wish to improve their technical understanding of the sport. For those seeking the qualification of IOF Event Advisor for Trail O, attendance at such a clinic is obligatory. National Orienteering Federations, in particular those new to this discipline, are kindly asked to identify and enter suitable candidates.
Those attending should also aim to enter the Model Events and Days 1 and 2 Competitions in WTOC 2007 or the team officials events immediately following the WTOC.
The course will consist of a short classroom session and a longer practical session re-visiting one of the previous days’ competition areas. The practical session will analyse control sites and comment on the strengths and weaknesses (if any) of the problems set. The indoor session will examine differences in elite trail orienteering practice between IOF and national federations. Clinic notes will be provided and include internet-available references to suitable technical material.
Participants will have the chance to ask questions and discuss Event Advisor qualification and any other aspects of the technical trail orienteering at elite level during the sessions.
Candidates will be expected to arrange their own accommodation and travel.
