Invitation to the IOF Foot Orienteering Event Advisers Clinic in Eksjö, Sweden, 24-25 July 2009

This Event Advisers’ Clinic is organised for the education and recruitment of new IOF licensed Foot Orienteering Event Advisers. National orienteering federations are asked to identify and enter suitable candidates.

Clinic site: Eksjö “University”, Sweden
Course objectives and requirements: The main objective of this IOF Event Advisers’ Clinic is to prepare participants to be licensed IOF Foot-O Event Advisers.
The requirements for licensing are:
1. Be an active foot orienteer.
2. Have competed in countries other than your own.
3. Have successfully controlled major national events in the last 3 years.
4. Be competent to communicate with IOF and the organising Federation (mainly in English).
5. Have attended, and have been an active participant in an IOF Event Advisers Clinic.
6. Be familiar with the IOF Rules and other relevant publications
7. Be recognised as a top standard controller/event adviser and endorsed as suitable by your Federation.
Course content:
• Understanding of the task of an IOF Event Adviser
• Deeper understanding of the nature of orienteering and each format of foot-O (long, middle, sprint, relay)
• Understanding of the IOF rules and requirements for international competition
The course will include a short field exercise in course controlling
Accommodation &meals:
Alternative 1: Youth hostel (price for one night) (400 metres from the Clinic site)
235 SEK for two persons in a room
200 SEK for three to four persons in a room
Own linen, otherwise 100 SEK extra
Breakfast: Make your own at the youth hostel or 60 SEK at Eksjö hotel.
Alternative 2: Eksjö Hotel (price for one night) (600 metres from the Clinic site)
745 SEK for one person in a room
495 SEK per person for two persons in a room
415 SEK per person for three persons in a room
Breakfast: Included
Alternative 3: Own arrangements (O-Ringen competitors may already have accommodation booked for the Friday night) (O-Ringen camping site about 1800 metres from the Clinic site)
Dinner on Friday and lunch on Saturday are included in the Clinic entry fee.
Travel: Eksjö can be reached by train in about 3 hours from Stockholm or Gothenburg.

• IOF Foot-O Competition Rules
• International Specification for Orienteering Maps, ISOM
• International Specification for Sprint Orienteering Maps, ISSOM
• IOF Control descriptions
• The Leibnitz Convention
• IOF guidelines for WRE, WMOC and JWOC
The material is available at the IOF website www.orienteering.org and should be read through beforehand.

The entry fee is 500 SEK. This should be paid on arrival or in advance. An invoice can be sent if required.
