Gueorgiou – looking forward to Middle distance

Thierry Gueorgiou pushed hard from the start and got his second gold in Long distance, but didn’t like the long race so much. There is a distance he looks forward to much more.
The first forest final was mostly in pine forest with good visibility and not so many details. There was a lot of straightforward running at high speed.
“I didn’t enjoy life during the race”, says Thierry. “But it is of course great to get one more gold on the Long distance, my second, even though I will remember the gold from the Long distance in France two years ago more”. On his home ground the race was incredibly challenging. “However, I really wanted to show that I can run too!”
Thursday and Friday are days Gueorgiou is looking much more forward to as challenges with map and compass. “I am happier in the Middle distance”, he says.
– How is your shape compared to earlier years?
“I don’t think I have the same level like I had in 2007. On the other hand I have got much more experience and I’m more relaxed.
– How many WOCs are you looking forward to?
“Just the coming final on Friday”, he smiles.
