Graham Gristwood – a medal the next big goal

Graham Gristwood enjoyed a perfect run in the old town of Geneva, and achieved his first individual placing among the top three in a big international event. Now he is heading for the same at WOC.
– Next year my goal is definitely an individual medal at WOC, he says. The orienteer from Great Britain was sitting in the lead for a very long time in the last race in the World Cup. In the end he got company from WOC champion Matthias Müeller, who had just the same time, before Daniel Hubmann took the victory with the last start number.
Two years ago Graham won gold at the relay at WOC. Individually he has done well for a long time and has been among the very best, like the fifth place he took in the Nordic Orienteering Tour in Stockholm in June.
Individually this years WOC was a disappointment. He had some problems in the qualification races, and didn’t manage his best in the sprint final and ended fourteenth. He lives in Sheffield and will take part in cross-country competitions during the winter. He will be training to improve his speed. Graham is ready for much more.
