Gleb learns from his team mate

Two years ago Gleb Tikhonov took gold at the sprint in Junior World Ski Orienteering Championships. Now he is also a champion without snow – partly thanks to his Swedish team mate.

“It has been my big goal to win  Junior World Championships also in orienteering”, Gleb says.

The 19-year old senior took a quite clear victory with 17,3 seconds before silver winner Jan Petrzela from Czech Republic.

He actually made a mistake to the first control, but after that he did very, very well. He says the secret to his success is that he always tries his best, and has very good coaches.

The Russian that is from Moscow has been in the Swedish club Rehns BK the last months. In the same club is Jerker Lysell who is one of the big favourites for the World Championships sprint in Lausanne at the end of this week.

“I have talked a lot with Jerker and have really learnt a lot from him and I hope he also gets success at the World Champs”, Gleb says.
